Canali Anthracite Waterrepellent-Wool Twill Carcoat

Discover the Canali Anthracite Water-Repellent Wool Twill Carcoat. The cloth is a wool twill treated for water repellency, the diagonal weave construction giving the fabric a natural strength and a clean drape while the water-repellent treatment allows the carcoat to perform in light rain and damp conditions without sacrificing the appearance or the hand of a genuine wool cloth. The micro-pattern runs through the anthracite ground in the manner of a twill's inherent surface structure taken further, the fine repeat contributing a depth and a visual complexity to the dark ground that a plain surface would flatten, the cloth presenting as more considered than a solid anthracite at the same weight while remaining entirely composed and without any pattern that asserts itself at distance.

The rounded shirt collar is the detail that most clearly defines this carcoat's character, the soft, unfused collar sitting away from the conventional notch or peak lapel configuration and giving the coat a relaxed, almost sportswear-adjacent silhouette that sits closer to a refined casual garment than to a structured overcoat, the rounded collar completing a clean, uninterrupted front line from collar to hem. Button closure runs the front, slanted side pockets sit at a natural angle at the hips. The elbow detail extends from the elbow downward through the lower sleeve in the same fabric as the coat, the tonal patch constructed from matching anthracite twill so that it reads as a surface texture change rather than a contrasting material, the reinforcement present as a structural and design detail simultaneously, the extension below the elbow giving it a proportion specific to this carcoat rather than the conventional elbow patch that stops at the joint.

Canali applies water-repellent treatment to wool that is worth protecting. In anthracite twill with a shirt collar and a tonal sleeve detail, the carcoat makes a practical argument with considered means.
