Corneliani Brown Cotton-Stretch Moleskin Pinpoint Vespa Jacket

Discover the Corneliani Brown and Warm Taupe Cotton-Stretch Velvet Vespa Jacket. The outer body is a cotton-stretch cloth finished to a surface so soft and dense that it reads closer to moleskin or velvet than to any conventional cotton, the nap carrying the warm taupe ground with a depth and tactile richness that a plain-woven cotton would flatten entirely. The warm taupe sits between brown and taupe depending on the light, the colour shifting with the nap's direction and the conditions it is read in, never quite settling into either tone and more interesting for it.

The jacket operates on the same architectural logic as Corneliani's Vespa line: the front panel is attached to the body by a concealed zip, the entire front removable when conditions allow and replaceable when they do not, the two halves reading as a single coherent garment when worn together. The removable front panel is constructed in wool and cashmere, the blend bringing a softness and a warmth of hand that distinguishes it from the cotton-stretch outer at the point where the two materials meet, the contrast between the velvetine cotton body and the wool-cashmere front present as a material detail rather than a visual one, felt when the jacket is handled and worn rather than seen across a room. A removable throat tab fastens across the open collar when the weather requires it. Patch pockets sit at the hips, the construction open and accessible in keeping with the jacket's functional character. The zip pulls are finished with an engraved Corneliani family crest, present at the end of each zip as a detail that requires looking for and rewards the finding. The partial lining sits soft against the interior.

Corneliani builds the Vespa jacket around a single intelligent idea and executes it differently each time. In brown and warm taupe cotton-stretch with a wool and cashmere removable front, this version is among the more considered executions of that idea.
