Curator's Description

Discover the Corneliani Brown Quilted and Navy Softshell Reversible Carcoat. The reversible construction gives the coat two identities with a single garment, the choice between them determined by the day rather than the wardrobe. The brown side carries a quilted construction in a tone that sits at the warmer end of the brown spectrum, close to an earthy orange in certain lights, the quilting adding a layer of insulation and giving the surface a structured, padded relief that the navy side does not have. A leather collar frames the brown side's neckline, the material contrast between the leather and the quilted cloth adding a considered detail that elevates the coat beyond a purely functional proposition. Zipped side pockets on the brown side secure whatever is carried against the weather, the closures practical and clean against the quilted front.

Reversed to navy the coat presents an entirely different character: the softshell material smooth and composed, the surface technical in its construction and quiet in its appearance, the open side pockets accessible and unencumbered, the whole side reading as a clean, contemporary outerwear piece with none of the quilting's structured warmth. The navy works across a wider range of situations than the brown, the softshell's surface appropriate to both casual and smart contexts, while the brown quilted side offers more warmth and a more distinctive presence when the occasion suits it.

Corneliani makes the reversible carcoat work by treating both sides as finished garments rather than one finished side and one lining. In quilted brown with a leather collar and navy softshell, the result is two coats that together take up the space of one.

Quality Control Comments

A subtle area of discoloration is visible at the centre of the brown side. It is only noticeable upon close inspection, but is noted for full transparency and reflected in the price.

General Note: While we inspect each item to ensure its quality, please note that minor imperfections may be present due to the preloved nature of the garments. We strive to represent every item accurately, but subtle signs of wear may sometimes go unnoticed. We appreciate your understanding and commitment to sustainable luxury.
