Ermenengildo Zegna Navy Vintage 3-Piece Super 100's Pinstripe Suit

Discover the Ermenegildo Zegna Navy Vintage 3-Piece Super 100's Pinstripe Suit. This suit dates from the 1970s or 1980s, a period when Zegna was producing some of its most considered tailoring before the brand shifted toward broader commercial positioning. The silhouette is sharper and more structured than what the house makes today, with pronounced shoulder padding and a clean chest line that gives the jacket a distinctly authoritative presence. That kind of construction is precisely what a growing number of buyers are looking for now.

The jacket closes with two buttons on notch lapels proportioned to the era. Flap pockets sit at the hips, and the interior is fully lined. The shoulder structure is the defining feature: padded in the manner of Italian tailoring from this period, it creates a strong, straight line across the top of the jacket that shapes the entire silhouette.

The vest is five-button single-breasted, cut close to the body in the way three-piece suits of this decade were made. It adds both visual weight and versatility, sitting correctly under the jacket while being worn alone when the occasion calls for it.

The trousers run straight from hip to hem in a flat-front cut with belt loops. The overall proportions read as period-correct without being costume, which is the balance that makes vintage suiting from this era genuinely wearable today.

Super 100's wool from this period was milled with a different standard than the number implies now, and the cloth on a well-preserved piece like this has a quality that is hard to find in contemporary production at the same price point.
