Kiton werd in 1968 opgericht door Ciro Paone in Arzano, nabij Napels. Ciro Paone werd in 1933 geboren in Napels en kwam uit een familie van stoffenhandelaren die al vijf generaties actief waren – wat nu zeven generaties zijn geworden. Meer dan drie decennia lang gaf Ciro's passie vorm aan het Kiton-project.
