Super 150's designates a wool fibre of approximately 17.5 microns or finer in diameter, a fineness that places the fibre among the most delicate that suiting construction can practically work with, the thread count at this grade producing a cloth that falls with a weight and drape closer to silk than to conventional wool, the hand cool and almost liquid against the skin, the surface taking a finish so smooth and even that it reflects light in the manner of a fine dress cloth rather than a suiting fabric. At this fibre grade the cloth is also inherently susceptible to the quality of every stage of its production, from the sourcing of the raw fleece to the finishing of the woven fabric, and the Diamante Blu represents Kiton's answer to what that susceptibility demands: a cloth conceived and finished to a standard where the fibre's properties are not compromised at any stage. The micro-pinstripe is woven into the dark grey ground at a scale that renders it invisible at conversational distance, the stripe present in the cloth's construction without advertising itself, revealing a fine repeating line only when the suit is examined directly and close, the kind of pattern that the wearer knows is there before anyone else does. This is a vintage Kiton piece, the older logo font on the label placing it in a period of the house's history when the Neapolitan atelier's production was smaller, the hand work denser and the standard applied to each garment correspondingly less compromised by volume. Broad notch lapels give the jacket a generous, classical proportion suited to the vintage period of its construction, the 2.5-button closure allowing the lapel to roll past its break with the natural ease that configuration produces. The jacket is fully lined and the flap pockets at the hips sit clean against the front. The trousers are cut wide and straight with a double pleat at the rise that allows the Super 150's to move freely through the leg without pulling, the generous cut in keeping with the suit's vintage proportions, the turn-up at the hem anchoring the trouser's long, unbroken line when worn.

Vintage Kiton at this grade of cloth is a different proposition from the house's current production, not because the standard has fallen but because the era produced garments with a density of attention that smaller volumes made possible. The Diamante Blu micro-stripe in dark grey is the clearest evidence of what that attention looked like when it was applied without reservation.
