Mulberry silk is produced by Bombyx mori silkworms fed exclusively on white mulberry leaves, resulting in fine, smooth, uniform filaments with the high lustre most people associate with silk. Tussah silk comes from wild or semi-wild silkworms of the Antheraea family, fed on oak and other leaves, and produces a coarser, more textured fibre with a characteristic slub and a naturally muted, warm tone. Where Mulberry silk reads as refined and smooth, Tussah reads as organic and tactile. The two together in the same cloth create a surface that has warmth without heaviness and texture without roughness, with the linen and cashmere adding structure and softness respectively.

The pattern is a gun check in multiple brown hues, a small, disciplined check with British sporting origins that sits correctly on a hacking-inspired jacket. The hacking jacket is a British country and equestrian tradition: fitted through the waist, with details carried over from riding dress. This one follows that template with envelope-style patch pockets with a flap, a throat tab that buttons at the collar for wind protection, and a half lining that keeps the jacket light and allows the cloth to breathe.

Inside the chest pocket, a small cloth bag contains a set of spare buttons. This is a sartorial detail that invites the buyer to have a tailor open the sleeve buttonholes to working buttonholes, using matched buttons. It is the kind of inclusion that speaks directly to the customer the jacket is built for.
