Brioni Peach & Steel Grey Wool Windowpane Vintage Nomentano Jacket

Discover the Brioni Peach and Steel Grey Wool Windowpane Vintage Nomentano Jacket. The colour combination is the jacket's most immediate and distinctive quality: peach as the ground is a choice that few houses would approach in suiting cloth and fewer still would carry with confidence, yet against the steel grey of the windowpane it resolves into something warm and considered rather than decorative, the grey check grounding the peach tone and preventing it from reading as anything other than deliberate. The windowpane runs across the wool in Brioni's measured manner, the lines clean and the intervals well-judged, the pattern present on the surface without competing with the colour for attention. The wool itself is the quality that Brioni's Roman atelier has sourced consistently across the decades this piece represents, the hand fine and the weave tight enough that the cloth holds a clean surface and drapes with the controlled weight that structured Roman tailoring requires. The Nomentano is among Brioni's trimmer configurations, a fit built with a higher button stance and a higher gorge than the house's fuller models, the lapel rolling to its break at a point that gives the front an elevated, refined proportion, the shoulders natural and lightly supported rather than heavily padded, the silhouette shaped through the waist without the reduction that a more aggressively fitted cut would impose. The three-button closure is in keeping with the vintage period of the jacket's construction, the buttons stacked at intervals that the higher stance makes natural. Flap pockets sit at the hips, the jacket half lined to allow the wool to move freely through the lower body.

Brioni built its reputation on Roman tailoring at the level where fit, cloth and construction argue as one. The Nomentano in peach and steel grey wool windowpane makes that argument in the terms of a house at the height of its powers.

Based on the proportion between the flap pockets and the hem, the jacket appears to have been shortened to a "Corto" length. Our tailor has confirmed that the original length cannot be restored. In addition, one small hole is present on the front (see final image in the gallery). The jacket remains a beautiful and distinctive piece, with both details carefully reflected in the price.
