Cashmere and silk in a suiting weight is an unusual and deliberate choice: the cashmere brings a softness and a warmth that wool at any grade cannot replicate, the fibre sitting against the body with an immediacy and a gentleness that defines the wearing of this suit from the first moment, while the silk adds a quiet, restrained luminosity to the surface that allows the dark taupe ground to carry depth rather than weight. Dark taupe is the colour that earns its place here: neither brown nor grey but holding something of both, warm enough to make the cashmere's character legible and considered enough to carry the check without competing with it. The check runs through the cloth in a pattern that confirms the cloth's winter intentions while remaining entirely within the suit's register of understatement, the tonal construction sitting within the dark taupe rather than contrasting against it. The jacket is built entirely by hand in Naples, notch lapels, a two-and-a-half button stance, flap pockets with a ticket pocket and dark brown horn buttons with handmade buttonholes, each cut with the slight irregularity that marks the hand rather than the machine. The trousers carry the extended waistband and side adjusters that belong to the great tradition of Neapolitan trouser construction, the waistband sitting higher and with more presence than the standard, the side adjusters allowing the fit to be calibrated without a belt, and the turn-up finishing the hem with a horizontal weight that anchors the line of the leg.
