Wool, silk and linen in combination achieve what none of the three fibres manages alone: the wool providing the structure and the drape that a suit cloth requires to hold its line across a long day, the linen contributing lightness and a natural breathability that allows air through the construction, and the silk adding a quiet luminosity to the taupe ground that lifts the colour and gives the overcheck the conditions it needs to read clearly. The overcheck sits over the taupe ground as a pattern of restrained intention, the grid of lines running across the cloth at a scale and tone calibrated so that the suit reads as a sophisticated neutral from any distance and reveals its internal structure only to those close enough to notice, the pattern adding depth without announcing itself. Taupe in this blend and with this construction is the warm-weather suiting colour at its most versatile, sitting with equal ease against a white shirt and a cream one, against linen and against cotton, the tone belonging to the season without being limited by it. The jacket is built entirely by hand in Naples, notch lapels, a two-and-a-half button stance, flap pockets with a ticket pocket and horn buttons with handmade buttonholes, the full lining keeping the construction contained without adding unnecessary weight. The trousers carry the extended waistband and side adjusters of the Neapolitan tradition, the fit calibrated without a belt, and the flat front allowing the cloth to fall cleanly from the waistband with the ease that this blend at this weight is entirely capable of.
