Sartorial Fieldtrip in Napoli 🇮🇹🪡 (2/2): Exploring Marco Cerrato with The Sartorial Club
On the second visit with The Sartorial Club, we explored Marco Cerrato’s workshop in Naples, where trousers are elevated to an art form. Founded by Ciro Cerrato in 1972, the family-run business is now led by Marco and his brother Massimo. Marco’s atelier is in the heart of Naples’ Spanish Quarter, a perfect setting for his traditional yet innovative approach to trouser making.
Marco mentioned, “Trousers should not be too big, too small, too high, or too low—they just have to be perfect.” His confidence showed me that he knows exactly what he’s doing, assuring that one is in the right place for the perfect pair of trousers.
Marco’s trousers are handmade by a team of 18 skilled artisans, each trained for a minimum of three to four years. Every detail is customizable, from fabric choice to button type and pocket placement. It takes about 12 hours to make a pair of his bespoke trousers.
From what I’ve seen, the (house) style features a slightly roomier waist and seat -with either a gurkha or extended tab closure- and a more tapered leg, blending comfort with elegance.
