Brunello Cucinelli Dark Brown & Burgundy Wool & Cashmere Glenplaid Jacket

Discover the Brunello Cucinelli Dark Brown & Burgundy Wool & Cashmere Glenplaid Jacket. The cloth has the kind of handle that makes you reach for it a second time: wool and cashmere blended to a softness that recalls the best saxony fabrics, the surface carrying a gentle nap that absorbs light rather than reflecting it. The glenplaid is built on a dark brown ground with a burgundy and castagne overcheck that sits above it with just enough warmth to shift the overall reading depending on the light, the pattern emerging as something richer and more complex than a conventional brown check at first suggests. It is the kind of cloth that rewards closer attention. Construction is half-lined, keeping the jacket light on the shoulder and allowing the fabric to move and drape without resistance, flap pockets sit at the hips alongside a jetted ticket pocket, and the horn buttons are in keeping with the earthy palette of the cloth, the whole thing carrying a coherence that feels considered without being laboured.

Brunello Cucinelli's position in the landscape of Italian tailoring rests on exactly this kind of piece: cloth of genuine quality, colour chosen with a careful eye, and construction that lets both speak without interruption.

My wife Federica was born in Solomeo. In 1978, when we were engaged to be married, a second love blossomed inside me, my passion for her beautiful hamlet of origin. Federica ran a small clothing shop here in the village, and here I came across the idea to venture into a knitwear business. It took quite a lot of courage to take this step, since back then there were already 13,000 people working in this industry in Perugia only, one of the main centres for this manufacturing business.
