The wool side is treated with Loro Piana's Storm System technology, a proprietary process in which the wool is laminated with a waterproof membrane that keeps rain out while preserving the natural breathability and the hand of the fibre, the navy wool presenting on the outside with the appearance and the drape of a conventional tailored cloth while performing as genuine outerwear in wet conditions. This is the side that wears as a city coat, the navy reading as composed and considered, the Storm System treatment invisible to anyone not looking for it. Reversed to the softshell the coat presents a dark blue man-made fibre face with the smooth, technical surface characteristic of modern performance outerwear, the material lighter in appearance and more overtly functional in its register, the same weather protection delivered through a different material logic. The two sides address different days and different contexts, the choice made at the door rather than at the wardrobe.

The classic carcoat silhouette sits at the length that functions as a light overgarment without the weight of a full coat, the cut clean and the proportion straightforward. Button closure runs the front, each button engraved with the Canali name, the house signature present at the fastening point on both sides of the garment. Slanted side pockets sit at a natural angle on each face, the pockets functional and correctly placed for a coat designed to be worn in active conditions.
