Curator's Description

Discover the Caruso Light Brown Superfine Zelander Wool Ulster Coat, a sophisticated outer layer defined by classic pattern and exceptional material. Cut in a relaxed yet refined silhouette, this piece is rendered in a soft Prince of Wales check woven in warm, earthy shades of light brown and beige. The Ulster design - with its wide notch lapels, half-belted back, and turned-back cuffs - channels a heritage feel while remaining strikingly modern. Crafted from Loro Piana’s renowned Zelander wool and fully lined for a luxurious drape, it’s the kind of coat that transitions effortlessly from smart tailoring to off-duty cashmere.

Loro Piana's Zelander fabric is a superfine wool made exclusively from carefully selected New Zealand merino, prized for its natural elasticity, smooth finish, and subtle luster. It offers the rare combination of resilience and softness, making it ideal for outerwear that demands both comfort and structure. Caruso, true to its Emilia-Romagna roots, brings this cloth to life with a balance of technical precision and quiet flair. Every coat is entirely made in Italy, shaped using light canvassing and hand-guided tailoring techniques that ensure it holds its form while moving with ease.

About the tailor

Founded in 1958 in Soragna, near Parma, **Caruso** is one of Italy’s most respected tailoring manufacturers, known for combining traditional craftsmanship with advanced garment engineering. Originally established as a specialist producer for some of the world’s leading luxury houses, the company built its reputation on precise construction, refined silhouettes and meticulous quality control. Over time, Caruso developed its own label, allowing the house to express its philosophy of modern Italian tailoring more directly. Production remains centered in its historic atelier in Emilia-Romagna, where skilled artisans oversee every stage of the process, from canvas construction to the final pressing. The result is tailoring that balances technical precision with a naturally elegant silhouette, offering garments defined by quiet sophistication, thoughtful construction and a distinctly contemporary Italian sensibility.
