From any reasonable distance it presents as a refined light grey, the kind of neutral that belongs in the first rank of suiting colours and asks nothing of whoever stands near it. A closer look introduces the first layer of the pattern: a subtle glenplaid running through the grey ground at a scale and tone so restrained it reads as a texture rather than a check, the diagonal lines of the glen construction giving the surface a quiet internal movement. Closer still, the steel blue windowpane resolves over the top of the glenplaid, a fine overcheck in a colour that sits in productive contrast to the warm grey beneath, the two patterns occupying the same cloth at different scales and different tones, neither competing with the other and the combination producing a surface of genuine depth that rewards the kind of attention most cloths do not invite. Super 150's and silk at this weight is a cloth of exceptional fineness, the yarn count producing a surface so smooth and so tightly constructed that it drapes from the shoulder with the clean, immediate fall that separates this grade of suiting from everything below it, the silk adding a luminosity that makes the steel blue windowpane shimmer slightly against the grey as the light shifts.
