Cesare Attolini Navy Wool-Stretch Twill Sartorial Peacoat
50 IT / 40 US / Large
Discover the Cesare Attolini Navy Wool-Stretch Twill Sartorial Peacoat. The peacoat is a garment with a clear and well-documented origin, developed as naval outerwear for sailors requiring a short, double-breasted coat substantial enough to withstand open water conditions while allowing freedom of movement on deck. What Cesare Attolini brings to this silhouette is the Neapolitan atelier's particular understanding of construction: the same principles of soft shouldering, considered fit and hand finishing that define the house's tailored jackets applied to a coat whose military heritage would not traditionally invite them, the result a peacoat that carries the silhouette's authority while wearing with the ease of a garment built around the body rather than against it.
The cloth is a wool twill with a touch of stretch, the twill's diagonal weave giving the navy ground a quiet surface structure and a natural drape, the stretch allowing the coat to move freely across the back and shoulders without the pulling that a rigid wool construction would introduce in a double-breasted outerwear piece. Six buttons run the front in a vertically aligned configuration, the buttons placed to create an elongated, unbroken line from collar to hem that reads as leaner and taller than a wider-spaced arrangement would produce. Slanted side pockets sit at a natural angle into the front. At the back, box pleats release fabric through the shoulders and upper back for freedom of movement, and a martingale sits at the waist, the short half-belt a classic detail of military-derived outerwear that cinches the coat's back line and gives the silhouette a defined waist when fastened, an open, relaxed drape when left loose. The coat is fully lined throughout.
Cesare Attolini makes a sartorial peacoat that respects where the garment came from and understands what it can become in the right hands.
