Corneliani Grey Wool-Flannel Classic Pinstripe Winter Suit

Discover the Corneliani Grey Wool-Flannel Classic Pinstripe Winter Suit. Wool flannel and the pinstripe are among the oldest and most resolved combinations in suiting cloth, the napped surface of the flannel giving the stripe a softness that the same pattern in a smooth-faced worsted would not carry, the chalk line running through the grey ground with a warmth and slight diffusion that makes the pinstripe feel considered rather than severe. Grey flannel in winter suiting has been correct for long enough that the only question remaining is the quality of the cloth, and in Corneliani's golden era the answer was consistently in favour of the wearer. The flannel here is a proper winter weight, the fibres milled and raised to a surface with body and warmth, the cloth substantial enough to carry the suit's structure through the colder months without the internal padding that a lighter cloth would require to achieve the same effect.

The Leader is Corneliani's classic Italian fit, a silhouette built with traditional proportions: a structured chest, a clean shoulder line with measured padding, and a waist that shapes the jacket without reducing it, the whole cut conceived for a man who dresses with knowledge rather than fashion. Two-button closure and notch lapels give the front a straightforward, well-resolved proportion, flap pockets at the hips completing the line without complication. The suit is fully lined throughout, the construction in keeping with a winter cloth of this weight and character. The trousers are cut flat front with belt loops and a plain hem, the silhouette clean and unbroken from waist to shoe.

Corneliani in its best years made suits that understood the difference between dressing well and dressing loudly. A grey wool-flannel pinstripe in the Leader fit is the clearest statement of that understanding.
