The wool, silk and cashmere combination in brown is woven with a micro geometric pattern that sits close enough to the ground colour that it reads as surface texture at arm's length and reveals itself as a repeating structure only on close inspection, the kind of understated design decision that requires confidence in the cloth itself to carry. The Mila Zero is Zegna's most considered intersection of fit and construction: the Mila silhouette brings a gently tapered waist, a generous chest, soft shoulders and a slightly lower buttoning point that gives the jacket a relaxed but shaped line, while the Zero construction strips the interior entirely, leaving the jacket unlined and built without the internal weight that conventional tailoring carries. Zegna was founded in 1910 in Trivero, Italy by a young entrepreneur called Ermenegildo - he was the youngest of Angelo Zegna’s 10 children. Angelo, a watchmaker by trade, had started weaving wool using four looms. From these humble beginnings, an 18-year-old Ermenegildo began using the looms creating quality fabrics that he described as “the most beautiful in the world”.
