Kiton Terracotta Vintage-Neapolitan Cashmere Jacket

Discover the Kiton Terracotta Vintage Neapolitan Cashmere Jacket. Terracotta in pure cashmere is a colour and cloth combination that arrives at its character through the particular way this fibre takes and holds a warm, earthen tone, the cashmere's surface giving the orange-brown ground a depth and a luminosity that a wool or cotton cloth at the same colour would not carry, the colour appearing richer and more considered than the pigment alone would produce. The cashmere is fully cashmere, and at Kiton's specification this means fibre selected at the level the Neapolitan house has applied to its cloth sourcing since the house's founding, the hand plush and substantial, the drape from the shoulder carrying the natural weight of a fibre of genuine quality.

This is a vintage Kiton piece, and the broad notch lapels place it in a specific period of the house's production, the lapel width carrying the generous proportion that an earlier decade's understanding of the correct jacket silhouette produced, the gorge sitting at a point that the years since have moved and that the vintage collector recognises immediately as a marker of the era. The broad lapels suit the cashmere's own generous character, the cloth and the proportion working together in a way that a slimmer, more contemporary configuration would resist. The 2.5-button closure allows the lapel to roll naturally past its break, flap pockets sitting at the hips, the jacket fully lined throughout, the lining giving the cashmere the internal finish and ease of movement that a cloth of this weight and quality requires.

Kiton vintage cashmere in terracotta is a jacket that the current market does not produce in these terms. The cloth, the colour and the proportion belong to a specific moment, and all three are present here without compromise.

Kiton was founded by Ciro Paone in 1968 in Arzano, near Naples. Ciro Paone was born in Naples in 1933; he came from a family of fabric dealers who had been operative for five generations – which have now become seven generations. For more than 3 decades, Ciro’s passion gave rise to the Kiton project. With the founding of Kiton, Ciro turned his greatest passion into a vocation, elevating tailoring from a modest artisan craft to an artistic expression: the love for beauty, the love for beautiful garments. His entire existence focuses on two fundamentals: passion and quality.
