Paolo Scafora is one of Naples’ most respected family shoemakers, known for a level of hand-work that even in Italy is considered rare. Founded in 1956, the workshop is still run by the Scafora family and produces entirely in-house, from patternmaking to hand-lasting to hand-welted and Norwegian-welted constructions. Their signature is the combination of robust Neapolitan techniques, thick hand-sewn welts, sculpted waists, asymmetric lasts, with refined, hand-dyed patinas that are built up layer by layer. Every pair is cut, lasted, stitched, and finished by artisans at the bench, resulting in shoes that feel closer to bespoke than ready-to-wear.
