The Botanist is built around two design elements that define its character: a moc-toe seam that traces the perimeter of the toe box in the manner of a moccasin, giving the front of the shoe a raised, hand-stitched quality that reads as craft rather than detail, and a notched vamp, the distinctive cut at the point where the vamp meets the upper, which opens the silhouette slightly and signals that this is not a conventional loafer but a considered reinterpretation of one. Orange bartack stitching on either side of the shoe adds a flash of colour at the stress points, a detail that functions structurally and reads as a house signature, and the underside of the sole carries the same orange, invisible in wear and present as a reminder of who made it. The white rubber sole lifts the shoe off the ground with the ease of a summer shoe, and against navy suede the contrast is particularly clean, the pale sole and the deep blue sitting together with the directness of a sailing shoe without any of the nautical clichés.
