Curator's DescriptionDiscover the Cesare Attolini Anthracite Super 130's Plain Suit, a piece whose colour is its first and most considered distinction. Anthracite sits between charcoal and black in the way that only the finest suiting cloths allow: a dark grey with a dark brown undertone running beneath the surface, warm enough to prevent the coldness of a pure grey and deep enough to carry the authority of a near-formal cloth, the tone shifting between the two depending on the light and reading differently against a white shirt than a cream one. Super 130's wool at this weight has the fine, smooth hand that only comes from a yarn count at that level, the fibres so closely woven that the surface reflects light evenly across its face and the cloth falls from the shoulder with the clean, unresisted drape that defines what a suit cloth at this grade feels like in wear. Plain weave in a colour this considered needs no pattern to justify itself, the depth and warmth of the anthracite doing the work that a stripe or check would only interrupt. The jacket is built entirely by hand in Naples, notch lapels, a two-and-a-half button stance, flap pockets and dark brown horn buttons with handmade buttonholes that carry the slight irregularity and precision that only hand-cutting achieves, each one a small argument for why this level of construction matters. The trousers are cut flat-fronted in a classic fit with belt loops and a plain hem, the cloth falling cleanly from the waistband with the same ease the jacket proposes above. Made by hand in Naples.
