The jacket is built in two parts that function as one: a wool-stretch herringbone shell that provides the structure and the surface, and a quilted front panel that attaches within it and can be removed entirely when the season or the temperature calls for a lighter hand. The quilted front is the considered element: finished with a ribbed collar that sits cleanly at the neck, it functions as a standalone gilet with enough warmth and enough refinement to be worn independently through the transitional weeks when a jacket is too much and a shirt is not enough, the rib detail giving its neckline a finished, intentional quality rather than the raw edge of something designed only to be concealed. Together the two pieces produce a jacket with a warmth the herringbone shell alone could not achieve; separately they offer versatility that a conventional jacket never proposes.
