The ground is brown, a warm tone that carries a glen plaid in the base weave, the diagonal structure of the plaid giving the cloth a quiet visual complexity that registers as depth of surface rather than pattern at a distance. The royal blue windowpane runs across this as a thin overcheck, the colour confident against the brown ground, the two working together in the manner of cloths where the design has been conceived as a whole rather than assembled from separate decisions. Notch lapels and a 2.5-button closure give the jacket a relaxed but considered proportion suited to the cloth's character, patch pockets at the hips keeping the construction in the same spirit. The buttonholes are worked by hand throughout, each one stitched with the sustained attention Kiton's Neapolitan atelier applies to this detail as a matter of course, and horn buttons are set through them.
