The Lexington is Loro Piana's take on the polo format, built from baby cashmere rather than the cotton or piqué that defines the category elsewhere. Baby cashmere is combed from Hircus goat kids at around six months of age, producing a fibre of approximately 13 to 14 microns: finer, softer and lighter than standard cashmere, and the correct choice for a polo that is designed primarily as a layering piece under a jacket or blazer.

The buttonless construction removes the standard polo placket in favour of a flat neckline in plain knit, which keeps the collar profile clean and low-profile under a jacket lapel. It is a practical decision as much as a design one: a buttoned placket adds bulk at the chest and can create visible lines under tailored clothing. The Lexington avoids both.

The body is ribbed baby cashmere in a fitted cut, with cuffs and hem finished in single ribbing. White at this fibre quality carries a brightness and clarity that lesser materials cannot sustain, and it works as a base layer against virtually any jacket or coat in the wardrobe.

To care for this knitwear, we recommend hand-washing it inside out. Please avoid using bleach or tumble drying. If needed, iron it gently at a low temperature while turned inside out with a clean cotton cloth inbetween.
